Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Victoria
Fundraising strategy,
event management and sponsors development for a
community based not for profit agency. The focus of the
contract was on the creation of new fundraising events and
initiatives and an overall integrated partner approach
to the community.
Graduation Ceremonies (2002 – 2003 Two per Year)
CLIENT: Camosun College
Planning and event management of
college-wide graduation ceremonies. Responsibilities
included workplan development; student coordination
including gown rentals; accreditation processing and
certificate preparation; venue logistics; décor;
volunteer coordination/training; site management.
Emergency Medical
Services National Conference
and Trade
Show (2002)
CLIENT: BC Ambulance Service
This national 3-day
conference and industry trade show was targeted to
physicians and practitioners within the emergency health
care services field. Project responsibilities included
planning, administration, marketing and event management
services for over 300 delegates/spouses including 56
international speakers. The event included supplementary
socially programming (including a gala atop Grouse
Mountain), spousal tour packages and an industry photo
contest.
VISIONS
– Auction/Dinner Dance (2001-2003 Inclusive)
CLIENT: Greater Victoria Hospitals Foundation
Event management for Greater Victoria
Hospitals Foundation single largest fundraiser, held
annually at the Empress Hotel. This very successful and
high profile event attracted close to 400 attendees
($175 per ticket) and offered over $90,000 in auction
items in 2002, generating over $300,000 towards the
improvement of health care equipment for the Greater
Victoria community.
Trans Canada Trail Relay 2000 (1999 – 2000)
CLIENT: ParticipACTION
One of five national managers responsible
for all project planning; community development and
animation; sponsorship and media relations for Canada's
largest millennium project (20 million dollars). Scope
of project included direct ‘hands-on’ responsibility for
community development and mobilization in BC for the
movement of a national water relay which visited over
800 Canadian communities (including First Nations), each
engaging in unique activities and celebration. Direct
responsibility for Victoria Pacific Water Drawing
Ceremonies (7 events in 2 days with involvement by the
Governor General and Deputy Prime Minister). Subsequent
responsibility included traveling across Canada,
managing celebrations from Victoria to St. John’s
Newfoundland.
Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the Year National
Conference &
Awards Gala (1995)
CLIENT: Businesswomen’s Advocate (Province of BC)
Initial responsibility for the completion
of a risk/feasibility analysis for the province relative
to moving the awards program out of Ontario (for the
first time) and delivering the highly esteemed
entrepreneurial Conference and National Awards Program
in Vancouver, BC. Ultimate scope of work included full
project responsibility for all planning and
implementation of this 2-day business conference and
nationally televised awards dinner program for 1,000
attendees. Particular focus was on the coordination of
both a newly created Steering Committee, representative
of BC’s outstanding women entrepreneurs, and the
national/provincial sponsors.
